Voters Must Also Dispatch Trump's Senate Enablers to the Abyss

Conservative never-Trumper David Frum of the Atlantic has a pinned tweet on his page about Trumpism that says, "when this is all over, nobody will admit to ever having supported it." I'm not sure if that's true of many of the President's grass-roots supporters who will be hoping for a restoration in 2024, but it accurately describes how many of the Republican Senators that enabled Trump's corrupt regime will react to his defeat.

Right now, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are all preparing speeches to distance themselves from the President's misogamy, racism, and xenophobia, his chaotic foreign policy, his incompetence and corruption, while extolling the conservative values of the party he led into the void. Nonsense! They always had the power to curb his excesses, but they chose to cooperate in order to please the white nationalists, isolationists, science-deniers, religious zealots, and conspiracy theorists that make up Trump's base. They feared the President's wrath and abandoned their duty to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law.

The majority of Americans may not be so quick to forgive "Lying" Ted, "Little" Marco, and the President's other GOP enablers, however. They can get a good start on cleansing the United States Senate tomorrow by sending some of Trump's allies home to contemplate their collusion with the President.

The Lincoln Project, a Republican super PAC, released a campaign ad back in July that slammed some of President Trump’s top GOP allies in the Senate, accusing them of “cowardice” and “betrayal.” It's powerful.

The ad states, “Someday soon, the time of Trump will pass. This circus of incompetence, corruption and cruelty will end. When it does, the men and women in Trump’s Republican Party will come to you, telling you they can repair the damage he’s done. They’ll beg you to forgive their votes to exonerate Trump from his crimes, ask you to forgive their silence, their cowardice and their betrayals as Trump wrecked this nation.”

In the piece, the Lincoln Project names many GOP Senators up for reelection tomorrow. Some of them are in very tight races, including Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Thom Tillis (N.C.), Cory Gardner (Colo.), Martha McSally (Ariz.), Joni Ernst (Iowa), Susan Collins (Maine), John Cornyn (Texas), and Steve Daines (Mont.). We would add David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler of Georgia to that list. All these individuals have been complicit in the incompetence and ugly extremes of Trumpism.

The Lincoln Project, "Names": “Every time they had a choice between America and Trump, they chose Trump. Every time they were called to the service of this nation and their sacred oath, they chose Trump,”

America's revival will not be complete until those that aided the President have been defeated, until Trumpism is dispatched to the abyss that holds McCarthyism and Jim Crow.
