Ukrainian Officials Substantiate that Trump's Impeachment Defense Was Always a Lie

The key element in Donald Trump's impeachment defense was that he was withholding US aid to Ukraine in order to force them to investigate Hunter Biden and his supposedly improper acts while he served on the board of the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma. It was always a pretext, a lie, and Trump's attempt to extort Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky into announcing the investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden's son led to the President's impeachment by the House of Representatives.

However, still needing US assistance in their war with Russian-backed separatists and hoping to put the matter to rest, Ukrainian officials began a review of Hunter Biden's activities while he was serving on Burisma's board. They released their findings yesterday.

The Guardian: "An audit of thousands of old case files by Ukrainian prosecutors found no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of Hunter Biden, the former prosecutor general, who had launched the audit, told Reuters."

To be clear, there was never a shred of evidence to suggest that Hunter Biden had done anything improper; it was a conspiracy theory created entirely to support Trump's effort to force Ukraine to announce an investigation and embarrass Joe Biden. But we now live in a world swirling with Trump's conspiracy theories and maybe this puts one to rest.
