Trust in Trump Evaporates as Americans Look to the CDC and WHO for Virus Information

President Donald Trump's years of fudging the truth have caught up with him during the coronavirus outbreak. A new poll released today by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist found that just 37% of Americans say that they have a good amount or a great deal of trust in the information they hear about the coronavirus from Trump. 60% don't have very much trust in the information they are hearing from the president or don't trust it at all.

On the other hand, several recent surveys have shown that we generally trust the information we are getting from the The World Health Organization, the Centers For Disease Control and state and local officials. A Kaiser Family Foundation poll released today found that Americans are turning to scientists and medical professionals to get their information on the pandemic.

KFF: "More than eight in ten adults (85%) say they trust the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a source for reliable information on coronavirus. More than three in four (77%) trust the World Health Organization (WHO) as a reliable source of information, while seven in ten trust their local government officials (70%) or their state government officials (71%). ..."
