Trump's Contempt for Combat Troops is "Disgusting" & “the Last Full Measure of His Disgrace"

Even Fox News has now verified key parts of a report in The Atlantic that details Donald Trump's contempt for those who serve in the military, referring to troops that lost their lives as "losers" and "suckers."
Atlantic: "When President Donald Trump canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018, he blamed rain for the last-minute decision, saying that “the helicopter couldn’t fly” and that the Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Neither claim was true."
"Trump rejected the idea of the visit because he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed."
Trump's comments echo similar and equally fatuous statements he made about Sen. John McCain in 2015 during the campaign for the Republican nomination.
Trump, via Politico: “He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
And, the President has a long history of making disparaging comments about military leaders including his statements about his former defense secretary, Jim Mattis, a retired four-star general, as “not tough enough” and “overrated.”
President Trump has denied the details in the Atlantic story, but his comments have been verified by numerous reporters including James LaPorta of the Associated Press who tweeted that he had spoken with a “senior Defense Department official” who “confirmed this story ... in its entirety.” And, yesterday Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin also confirmed key elements of the story, rocking the Trump campaign and setting off a twitter tirade by the President. Perhaps the Fox story will penetrate the right-wing news bubble that many Trump supporters seem to live in.
Joe Biden called the President's comments “disgusting” and said it was additional evidence that Trump is unfit for office. And, Congressman Jason Crow captured the feelings of many in the military.
Washington Post: "Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.), a former Army Ranger who served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, said the reports of Trump’s disparaging comments were “the last full measure of his disgrace,” altering a line from the Gettysburg Address."
