Trump is Clueless About Good Friday & the Pastor Who Flouts the Rules to Defy the Satan Virus

Donald Trump's relationship with the America's white evangelical community is fascinating and often humorous. They continue to support the President in record numbers even though he represents the antithesis of Christian belief.

Christianity Today: .... "this president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration. He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals. He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone—with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders—is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused."

Moreover, at times it seems like the President goes out of his way to prove that he has no idea what's in the bible, as if he hasn't even read the Cliffs Notes version. For instance yesterday on Twitter he wished America a "Happy Good Friday," which is akin to wishing someone a "Happy Pearl Harbor Day" or wishing Jews a “Happy Yom Kippur Day."

Author Chris Turner had a hilarious retort to the President's wacky "Happy Good Friday" message.

Turner, Twitter: "This is so sweet. My kids are always so excited by all the gifts under the crucifixion tree, but for me it's about quietly contemplating the joys of violent death at the hands of a tyrant."

Despite evangelical support, Trump can't even be bothered to learn something about the religion.

And, what's with evangelical pastors that risk the lives of their flock by encouraging hundreds of them to ignore social distancing guidelines and mass together in pews on Sunday.

The Hill: "While many churches across the nation plan to hold their Easter services online Sunday, a Louisiana pastor says his church near Baton Rouge is expecting a crowd of 2,000 or more despite federal coronavirus guidance advising social distancing."
“Satan and a virus will not stop us,” Rev. Tony Spell told Reuters. “God will shield us from all harm and sickness. We are not afraid. We are called by God to stand against the Antichrist creeping into America’s borders. We will spread the Gospel.”

Rev. Spell had been arrested before, on March 31 after violating social distancing regulations. Spell's decision to try again is more than a bit irresponsible; it's insanely reckless to risk the lives of thousands of parishioners.

Have a Joyous & Blessed Easter
