Trump Campaign Embraces QAnon & Outright Lies as it Desperately Tries to Hold on to Power
We now know why Donald Trump refused to condemn the insanely weird QAnon movement at his town hall last week; they are going to help shape his campaign in the last two weeks of the election. So expect that Trump and his increasingly creepy minions will unleash a torrent of revolting nonsense [BS] at the Biden family and other political opponents in the next 14 days.
For those that don't keep up with internet conspiracy theories, QAnon believes that Trump was chosen to lead a secret war against satanic, “deep state” pedophiles and cannibals. More recently they have gotten into Covid-denial, and their supporters have been arrested for all sorts of bizarre crimes [see list here] in the United States and Canada [sorry Canada]. The FBI has labeled them as a potential domestic terrorism threat. But, no group is too unhinged for our desperate President and his campaign has taken to employing their tactics: just make stuff up and hope someone is deranged enough to believe it.
So, last Wednesday Rudy Giuliani got the New York Post to print the Hunter Biden laptop story, that even the reporters at the Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid didn't believe and didn't want to be associated with. To keep the QAnon folks engaged, Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) told Fox News yesterday that there was also child pornography on Hunter Biden's alleged laptop, although even most right-wing outlets are shying away from that bit of BS.
And, last week, the President of the United States claimed that the Bidens are “an organized crime family, without any evidence [none, zero, nada] of wrong-doing.
In the last two weeks of the campaign, Trump is waging a scorched earth campaign that will fuel even more divisiveness in America.
CNN: "He's demonizing Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who was the target of a recently thwarted kidnapping plot. Trying to regain ground in the suburbs, he's using blatantly racist rhetoric to falsely warn White mothers that Democrats want to transform their residential districts with African refugees. This follows Trump's refusal last week to repudiate the QAnon group and his slanderous retweet of an outrageous conspiracy theory that claims Osama bin Laden is alive and Biden and former President Barack Obama might have had SEAL Team Six murdered."
Not to be outdone, Eric Trump on Saturday tweeted an image of a large home he claims Joe Biden owns and is evidence of corruption by the Democratic presidential nominee. However, it turns out that Biden hasn’t owned the property for 24 years, and bought it for just $185,000 in 1974 when it was derelict and needed to be restored.
Yes, political campaigns can get nasty, but Trump is plumbing new depths of depravity and it's going to get much, much worse in the next two weeks.
