Trump Brazenly Lies Again About His Efforts on 9/11 at Ground Zero

President Trump did his best to ruin the signing ceremony for legislation that will permanently authorize the September 11th victim compensation fund by making it about his imaginary efforts to help out at ground zero on 9/11. It's a brazen lie, even for Donald Trump.
Trump statement, via Raw Story: “Many of those affected were fire fighters, police officers, and other first responders,” the president said. “And I was down there also, but I’m not considering myself a first responder, but I was down there, I spent a lot of time down there with you.”
There is no evidence that Trump was anywhere near ground zero except to give an interview several days later. He has also claimed that he hired more than 100 workers to help out in the aftermath of the attack, but there is absolutely no evidence of that either.
However, we do have record of Trump claiming, incorrectly, that a Trump property had become the tallest in New York as a result of the attack.
The Independent: "While there is no evidence to indicate Mr Trump was at ground zero — the site of the terror attacks — during or immediately after the events, an interview with the president from that day features him discussing how one of his buildings had allegedly become “the tallest” in the city after the Twin Towers were destroyed."
Donald Trump has a sorted history with his 9/11 lies. He also famously but falsely claimed that he witnessed Muslim Americans in New Jersey celebrating as the World Trade Center buildings crumbled.
Lies such as these should sicken even the most hard core Trump supporter.
