Rare Video Footage Shows Life in London, Moscow, New York, Jerusalem & Other Cities During the 1890s
The first surviving video recording we know of was the Roundhay Garden Scene. The silent, 2 second film was filmed at the Whitely Family house in Roundhay, Great Britain in 1888. By the 1890s short films were more common and they give us some insight into life in that era.
The fascinating compilation film above contains shorts from some of the world's great cities including London, Paris, Jerusalem, Moscow, and New York. You have to wonder if any of the individuals in the footage imagined that their images would be an object of fascination 130 years later.
