Melania Horrified to Discover that She Still Has to "Give a F..k" About Christmas

We all have our favorite, defining moment of the "Trump Era," and for me it was the audio tape of Melania Trump confiding to a friend about the pressures of being First Lady and all the work she has to do to prepare the White House for the holidays.
CNN: "I'm working ... my a** off on the Christmas stuff, that you know, who gives a f*** about the Christmas stuff and decorations? But I need to do it, right?"
That quote is better than anything a screen writer could have concocted for a script about the Trump White House. In just a few words, It captures the essence of the Trump clan: all the rich white privilege, all the feigned Christian values and fake working class sensibilities. It's as if the line came from an updated, Trumpian version of Dickens' Christmas Carol.
And, for me, Melania's lament parallels her husband's frustration with the pandemic, with expectations that he might get to work and show some leadership, exhibit some empathy, rally the nation. But the lesson is that neither of them really wanted to do the hard work; it's just not who they are.
After the President lost the election, he can't be bothered to do the job or pretend that he cares about the pandemic ravaging the nation. He sits in the White House, in sullen isolation, tweeting out increasing bizarre conspiracy theories and planning his revenge on Joe Biden and America.
But, perhaps Melania visits Donald in his bunker from time to time with proposed updates to her prenuptial agreement. There has to be some quid pro quo if he expects her to add one more damn light to that "f..king" oversized Christmas tree.
