Kurds Appeal for American Assistance as They are Overrun by Turkish Invasion

America could use John McCain right about now. He would be the loudest voice in Washington explaining to Donald Trump that his pull-back of American forces in Syria is a betrayal that will color our relationship with allies [current and potential] for decades. We aren't just abandoning the Kurds, we are betraying the values that make America a great nation, that "shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere," as Ronald Reagan said. President Trump has made many foreign policy mistakes, but this one will echo through the ages.

Yesterday, the commander of Kurdish forces in Syria, Gen. Mazloum Kobani Abdi, sought to remind America of our betrayal.

CNN: "You are leaving us to be slaughtered," demanding to know whether the US is going to do anything to protect Syrian Kurds as Turkey continues its military operation targeting America's Kurdish allies in Syria."
"You have given up on us. You are leaving us to be slaughtered," ... "You are not willing to protect the people, but you do not want another force to come and protect us. You have sold us. This is immoral," Mazloum added."

And, who might the Kurds turn to for assistance in repelling the Turkish onslaught?

CNN: "I need to know if you are capable of protecting my people, of stopping these bombs falling on us or not. I need to know, because if you're not, I need to make a deal with Russia and the [Assad] regime now and invite their planes to protect this region," Mazloum said.

It's time for Republicans in the Senate to join with Democrats to rein in this President before America is forever tainted by Trump's perfidy.
