In an Insane Rant on Fox News, Sen Ron Johnson Suggests that Covid was "Preplanned" by "Elites"

During an interview on Friday with Fox's Maria Bartiromo. Sen. Ron Johnson suggested that the Covid-19 pandemic was "preplanned by an elite group of people... for our loss of freedom."
While he didn't specifically name the "elites", Johnson did mention "Event 201," a pandemic preparedness event hosted in 2019 by the World Health Organization, Gates Foundation, and Johns Hopkins University that's often cited by the tinfoil hat crowd as the genesis of some sort of international Covid-19 conspiracy. It's one of the reasons that Bill Gates is prominent in so many wacky conspiracy theories.
In the interview, Bartiromo and Johnson went on to rhapsodize about the wonders of Ivermectin as a treatment for Covid, despite the mountains of evidence to the contrary, and agreed that governments and those pesky elites kept it from the sick for some nefarious purpose.
You can read about the segment here, but the sum total is shocking, bewildering, and hilarious. It's like a "two conspiracy theorists walk into a bar" joke, but then you remember that Johnson is a US Senator and wonder how much further the Grand Old Party can sink. And it's not Johnson's first conspiracy theory. You can read a rather lengthy list here, and his views on the JFK assassination here.
