Generals, Diplomats, Economists Back Biden; Under Trump U.S. has Become a Global "Object of Pity"
In an unprecedented act of courage and conviction, 200 former Admirals and Generals published a letter yesterday endorsing Joe Biden for President while excoriating Donald Trump's presidency saying, "the current President has demonstrated he is not equal to the enormous responsibilities of his office; he cannot rise to meet challenges large or small. Thanks to his disdainful attitude and his failures, our allies no longer trust or respect us, and our enemies no longer fear us."
300 former national security officials and diplomats also signed on to the letter including William Webster, the former director of the CIA and the FBI, and five former defense secretaries: William Perry, William Cohen, Chuck Hagel, Leon Panetta and Ash Carter.
Of Biden they wrote, "while some of us may have different opinions on particular policy matters, we trust Joe Biden's positions are rooted in sound judgment, thorough understanding, and fundamental values." They couldn't say the same of Donald Trump, and that speaks volumes about the President's leadership over the last three years.
Object of Pity:
Also this week, Trump's former top adviser on Russia, Fiona Hill, warned that America is becoming an "object of pity" around the world because of the administration's "bungled handling of Covid, on top of race relations, on top of our political polarization ...." She also predicted that it would be "difficult" for NATO to survive a second Trump term.
Thirteen Nobel Prize-winning Economists Endorse Biden:
On Tuesday Thirteen Nobel Prize-winning economists released a letter backing Joe Biden's economic plan, saying that "Biden’s overall economic agenda will improve our nation’s health, investment, sustainability, resilience, employment opportunities, and fairness and be vastly superior to the counterproductive economic policies of Donald Trump.”
They also argued that our future prosperity is dependent upon wise public health decisions during the current pandemic, saying, “throughout the coronavirus crisis, Biden has recognized that science-based, public health solutions are critical not only to saving lives, but to any viable strategy to restore economic confidence, recovery, and jobs.”
In modern times there has never been such a consensus among prominent Americans in the sciences, military, economics, diplomacy and law regarding a presidential election. Never. And, they are pleading with voters to understand that Donald Trump represents the greatest threat to America's economy, its values and its standing in the world since the Second World War.
