Cohen: Trump is a Racist & Openly Mocked Evangelicals for Their Beliefs
President Trump’s longtime lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen recounts his years serving the President in his new book, "Disloyal: A Memoir." It's a devastating portrait of a man that Cohen describes as a "cheat, a liar, a fraud, a bully, a racist, a predator and a con man."
The book is full of juicy details about Stormy Daniels, former Playboy playmate Karen McDougal, Trump's Putin fixation, and the infamous National Enquirer smear of Sen. Ted Cruz's dad. Cohen also details Trump's racism and his hatred for former President Obama.
CNN: "Ranting about Obama after he won office in 2008, Trump said, "Tell me one country run by a black person that isn't a sh*thole...They are all complete f*cking toilets," according to Cohen. After Nelson Mandela died, Trump allegedly said of South Africa that "Mandela f*cked the whole country up. Now it's a sh*thole. F*ck Mandela. He was no leader."
According to Cohen, Trump went so far as to hire an Obama lookalike to abuse.
Business Insider: "Trump, in pursuing his grudge against Obama, hired a lookalike "Fauxbama" and "ritualistically belittled the first black president and then fired him" in a bizarre video."
With the election just eight weeks away, maybe the most important revelation in Cohen's narrative is Trump's utter contempt for evangelical Christians and their beliefs.
Washington Post: "Cohen writes that before winning the presidency, Trump held a meeting at Trump Tower with prominent evangelical leaders, where they laid their hands on him in prayer. Afterward, Trump allegedly said: “Can you believe that bulls--t? Can you believe people believe that bulls--t?”
In their heart of hearts, most evangelicals probably already suspected that Donald Trump views them as ignorant rubes, but Cohen's memoir still might give them pause. Do they really want to help reelect a man who views them with such contempt?
