Biden Stays Off Twitter, Ignores the Culture Wars & Remains Focused on the Pandemic
So far, President Joe Biden and his administration have been remarkably steadfast, staying focused on the Covid-relief package and getting Americans vaccinated. They have refused to be sucked into the never-ending culture wars that seem to have replaced public policy debates on the right. While Fox News and right-wing talk radio drones on about Mr. Potato Head and Dr. Seuss, Biden has remained dedicated to the things that matter to Americans, life and death concerns for the average family.
With the "noise" surrounding Donald Trump gone, the Republican Party is having a hard time defining itself based on issues and policies, so the culture war nonsense makes senses. It's something to unite them, a battle cry, a slogan.
Politico: "While Biden World may find it all a tiresome distraction, Republicans see a salve. Lacking power and a unifying political message, a relentless focus on “cancel culture” has proven to be a galvanizing force for their base."
Biden's team has seen all this before and realizes that the "War on Christmas" turns into the "War on Thanksgiving" that turns into who isn't standing for the National Anthem. And, in the end, it's all meaningless blather that has nothing to do with the real problems that the nation faces such as jobs, the environment, and health care. Yes, some voters will work themselves into a lather about ditching the Confederate flag or moving the Stonewall Jackson monument, but that's not what makes America great or wins elections.
