As US Nears 100,000 Deaths, Trump Golfs, Accuses Scarborough of Murder & Mocks Nancy Pelosi's Teeth

In an effort to deflect our attention from his incompetence in dealing with the Covid-19 crisis, President Trump is spending his Memorial Day weekend golfing, accusing Joe Scarborough of murder and trashing his women opponents with childish glee.

New York Times: "If the country’s losses were on his mind this weekend, Mr. Trump did a good job of hiding it. His Twitter feed was full of everything but that. He tweeted or retweeted messages falsely implying that “Psycho Joe Scarborough,” the MSNBC host, murdered an aide in 2001; suggesting that Speaker Nancy Pelosi has denture problems and likes to “drink booze on the job”; and declaring that former Attorney General Jeff Sessions “had no courage” and “ran for the hills” by recusing himself from the Russia investigation in 2017 as required by ethics rules."

And he didn't stop there, of course.

Washington Post: "In a flurry of tweets and retweets Saturday and Sunday, Trump mocked former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams’s weight, ridiculed the looks of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and called former Democratic presidential rival Hillary Clinton a “skank.”

Yep, this is how deep into the muck Donald Trump has dragged the nation. But, there is a method to his madness. He still believes that he can cow the press into silence with such baseless accusations, and thinks his outrageous attacks on political opponents will divert the nation's attention away from the growing coronavirus death toll. And, in his damaged mind, Trump feels he can strip away every last shred of decency from our civic engagement and boil down our politics to victors and vanquished, bereft of dignity, empathy or virtue. Within such a dark, vile world, Donald Trump believes he can still win reelection.
