As Election Day Nears, Trump's Lies Accelerate, Bordering on Madness
Donald Trump lies a lot, to the point that news outlets have run out of euphemisms for lying [misstatements of fact, fibs, exaggerations, alternative facts], and fact-checking the President has become a very depressing full time job. CNN's Daniel Dale told the Los Angeles Times that President Trump lies so much he had to “make a decision” to stop counting each one of the president’s false claims and “just focus on the big stuff.”
And recently, with the election approaching, Trump's lies have accelerated and become way more bizarre. For instance, at his Wisconsin rally yesterday he claimed that if Joe Biden is elected heat, electricity, and air conditioning would be abolished. WTF? What does Joe have against air conditioning?
In Pennsylvania on Monday Trump told a crowd that thanks to the state’s Democratic governor, “You can’t go to church. You can’t pray to your God. You can’t be with your pastors, your priests, your rabbis. You can’t be — none of that. You can’t do anything.” Actually, PA Gov. Tom Wolf never banned in-person religious gatherings during the pandemic.
Yesterday in Michigan, the President repeated his conspiracy theory that doctors and nurses are conspiring to drive up Covid death rates to line their pockets saying, “our doctors get more money if someone dies from Covid. You know that, right? I mean, our doctors are very smart people.” That is a revolting lie. These folks are risking their lives to care for sick and dying people and the President accuses them of being crooks.
And, last week in Arizona, Trump went on a rant about California, where, according to the President, "you have a special mask. You cannot under any circumstances take it off. You have to eat through the mask....It's a very complex mechanism. And they don't realize those germs, they go through it like nothing."
This is very close to madness and we still have 3 days to go. And it just skims the surface of the lies, misrepresentations, exaggerations and alternative facts Trump spews at his rallies. Here is a much more comprehensive list: Fact check: 7 kinds of dishonesty to expect at a late-campaign Trump rally
Lord knows what whoopers the President has in store for us if he loses the election.
