Beto O'Rourke is Running for President
Promising a positive campaign and to address immigration reform, climate change, and health care, Beto O'Rourke joined the Presidential race early this morning.
The Hill: "The only way for us to live up to the promise of America is to give it our all and to give it for all of us," he said in a video announcing his candidacy early Thursday."
"O’Rourke also vowed a “positive campaign” that “seeks to bring out the very best from every single one of us, that seeks to unite a very divided country.”
Vanity Fair has a cover story this month on O'Rourke by Joe Hagan with photography by Annie Leibovitz. He seems to clearly understand what is at stake in the 2020 election.
Vanity Fair: "A few days before Trump arrives, while meeting with students at the University of Texas at El Paso, O’Rourke compares the battle against Trump to “every epic movie that you’ve ever seen, from Star Wars to The Lord of the Rings. This is the moment where we’re going to win or lose everything.”
The more you see Beto and the more you hear of him, the more you realize that nothing about Beto O'Rourke is manufactured. The Beto O'Rourke you see on the campaign trail is the one you would see at home. His authenticity is his secret weapon, and it's what draws people to him. In a very crowded Democratic primary race, it's what may allow him to connect with both moderates and progressives in the party, as it did in Texas.
