60% of Americans Blame Trump for the Shutdown as the President's Approval Slides to Just 34%
New polling by the AP and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that just 34% of Americans support the job President Trump is doing, down from 42% just a month ago. That is near his all-time low and is driven by his slide with political independents. Only 28% of independents approve of the job Trump is doing. The President also continues to drive college graduates out of the Republican party and 76% now disapprove of his job performance. However, he has maintained his support among Republicans, 80% approving his work as President.
The poll also found that 60% of Americans hold the President mostly responsible for the government shutdown and only 36% favor Trump's border wall.
