Jimmy Buffet to do Campaign Concert for Gillum and Nelson in Fl and Oprah Canvasses for Abrams in GA

Jimmy Buffett has never taken his popularity for granted and he often gives freely of his time. Several years ago he was scheduled to appear at a sold-out show in Virginia Beach on a Saturday. He came into town on a Friday and dined at a restaurant that my son Nick was working at. Nick called us to come down to meet him and we arrived in time to see him borrow a guitar and play a five song set of requests for the other diners crowded around his table. It was quite special and he seemed to enjoy it as much as we did.

Buffett has never been shy about his politics. He's a progressive and supports environmental causes. So, its not surprising that he will perform on Saturday in West Palm Beach to rally voters for U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson and Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum.

It's a free concert and both candidates are scheduled to attend. One of our favorites..."Come Monday".

And, on Thursday Oprah Winfrey campaigned and canvassed for Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, who, if elected Tuesday, would become the first female African-American governor. In an impassioned speech she urged Abrams' supporters, especially her black supporters, to get to the polls.

CNN: "For anybody here who has an ancestor who didn't have the right to vote, and you are choosing not to vote -- wherever you are in this state, in this country -- you are dishonoring your family," Winfrey said in Marietta, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb. "You are disrespecting and disregarding their legacy, their suffering and their dreams, when you don't vote."

After her speech, Winfrey canvassed neighborhoods for Abrams, which was a bit of a surprise to many Atlanta residents.

CNN: "I'm canvassing for Stacey Abrams," Winfrey says to a shocked Georgia resident who opened her front door to find the media mogul on her doorstep holding a clipboard. "Are you voting for her?" Winfrey continued, despite the woman's surprise.

"I absolutely am," the wide-eyed, smiling woman responds.

Oprah was also asked about running for President in 2020. She still says no, but you have to wonder if that's a definite no. She might be one of the few Americans who could unite the nation right now.
