Democrats Widen Their Lead in Generic Congressional Ballot, New Poll
Democrats have opened up a 14 point lead, 52 to 38%, on the Generic Congressional ballot according to a new poll released today by Quinnipiac University.
Quinnipiac: "By a 14-point margin, Americans would rather vote for the Democratic candidate in their local race for the U.S. House of Representatives. Could the 'blue wave' become a tsunami?" asked Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
Breaking down the poll a bit demographically, Quinnipiac found that Democrats have increased their lead with Independent voters, 50 to 35%, a trend that other pollsters have also noted over the last two weeks. They also maintained a large advantage with women, 55 to 35%, with men about evenly divided. White voters give a slight edge to Republicans, 48 to 45%, but Democrats have built an overwhelming lead with minority voters; 84 to 7% among black voters and 64 to 22% among Hispanic voters.
