Michael Cohen Pleads Guilty, and a Jury Convicts Paul Manafort on Eight Felony Counts
Cohen pleaded guilty to eight counts, including five counts of tax evasion and one count of making a false statement to a financial institution.
New York Times: Michael Cohen said in court that he paid Stormy Daniels “at the direction of” Donald Trump for the purpose of “influencing the election.”
Shortly after Cohen's plea, Paul Manafort was convicted of eight felonies in Virginia.
New York Times: The verdict was a victory for the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, whose prosecutors built a case that Mr. Manafort hid millions of dollars in foreign accounts to evade taxes and lied to banks repeatedly to obtain $20 million in loans.
