Rep. Jim Jordan is Testing the Limits of Trump's "Deny, Deny, Deny" Strategy
David Range, a seventh former Ohio State wrestler, has come forward to say that conservative Rep. Jim Jordan [Ohio] knew about the alleged sexual abuse by the school’s athletic doctor, Richard Strauss, but failed to stop it. Jordan continues to deny that he knew of the abuse and has suggested that his former wrestlers are trying to derail his run to replace Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House.
The Hill: "David Range told The Washington Post that Jordan must have know about the alleged sexual abuse by athletic doctor Richard Strauss because it happened regularly and was often discussed.
“Jordan definitely knew that these things were happening — yes, most definitely,” Range told the newspaper. “It was there. He knew about it because it was an everyday occurrence.”
The bottom line: Its becoming very difficult to believe Rep. Jordan as the accusations pile up, and his suggestion that the wrestlers that he coached are engaged in a conspiracy against him seems far-fetched. But, so far, his conservative supporters are standing with him and its unlikely that anyone has definitive proof that he knew of Strauss's abuse. So, its likely that Jordan will continue to deny the allegations and hope the controversy blows over.
