Its Official; Virginia Legislature Approves Medicaid Expansion!
Its been a long, difficult road, but Virginia's legislature has finally voted to expand Medicaid coverage to about 400,000 of the state's low-income residents. Last year's anti-Trump wave which resulted in Democrats making substantial gains in the state House made this possible because Republicans had blocked expansion for years. But this time, several Republicans in both the House and Senate joined with Democrats to approve the measure. Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam, who also won by a large margin in last years election, had made expansion the central issue in his campaign.
Virginia will become the 33rd state to approve Medicaid expansion.
