New NRA President Oliver North Claims Parkland Gun Control Activists Are Civil Terrorists

In the Trump Era saying extremely stupid things with a straight face is in vogue. The most recent example is Oliver North who claimed in an interview with the Washington Examiner that the student activists calling for new gun regulations were involved in "civil terrorism." And he didn't stop there. North went on to compare the NRA with the civil rights advocates who opposed segregation:

“They’re not activists – this is civil terrorism. This is the kind of thing that’s never been seen against a civil rights organization in America"....“You go back to the terrible days of Jim Crow and those kinds of things – even there you didn’t have this kind of thing.”

Comparing NRA's management and membership to those who took part in the struggle for civil rights is not just repugnant, it intentionally mocks their sacrifice. North may find it difficult to convince Americans that the most powerful lobbying organization in the country is actually a disadvantaged victim.
