The Smartest Dog Breeds

From what I have read over the last decade, research on dog intelligence has reached a consensus regarding the smartest breeds and studies consistently list these 5 within the top tier:

1. Border collie

2. Poodle

3. German shepherd

4. Golden retriever

5. Doberman pinscher

Not to cast any aspersions, but Poodles are the surprise here. This research defined "smart" as: those breeds "who tend to learn a new command in less than five exposures and obey at least 95 percent of the time."
