Today in Congress Macron Gave the Anti-Trumpism Speech that Many in America Have Been Waiting For
Despite his seemingly chummy relationship with President Trump earlier this week, French President Emmanuel Macron came to Washington with a clear message to deliver to the American people. On Wednesday he blistered and belittled most of Trump's agenda and explained to stone-faced Republicans why America must reject extreme nationalism, climate change denial, "alternative facts", and mercantilist trade policies. And though it seems clear that he failed to convince Trump to remain committed to the Iran nuclear deal, he again explained why it's the best alternative to prevent them from acquiring the bomb.
Throughout his speech, Congressional Democrats cheered, occasionally joined by moderate Republicans, while Conservatives sat silently. Vox has a great recap of the speech here.
