The Strike on Syria
Axios has an excellent piece regarding the possible consequences of the strike against suspected chemical weapons facilities in Syria.
Its likely that Iran and Russia, like the United States, will want to let things cool down over the weekend which is why Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said the strike was a “one-time shot", and Trump tweeted "Mission Accomplished!” this morning. No one gains from continuing to ratchet up tensions, especially in light of President Trump's statements about America's imminent withdrawal from Syria. Its in Putin's, and thus Assad's, best interest to give Trump the space he needs to convince Mattis that its time to pull out.
