Virginia's New Democratic Majority in the House has Passed a Bill to Cap Insulin Co-pays
In discussing the progressive legislation that Virginia's new Democratic majority has passed, we forgot to mention a bill that would cap the co-pays that patients pay for insulin at $30 for a month's supply. This is an incredibly important change because the price of insulin has skyrocketed from "roughly $20 for a 10-millimeter vial of the drug in 1996, to as much as $290 a vial today," or more according to Elsevier’s Gold Standard Drug Database. And these price increases now threaten the health of those who suffer from diabetes.
The measure still has to be approved by Virginia's state Senate before it can be signed into law by Gov. Ralph Northam.
