Trump's Hilarious & Wholly Ignorant Rant About Wind Energy

Donald Trump lies about wind energy on a regular basis for reasons we may never fully understand. Earlier this year he claimed that the noise associated with wind turbines can cause cancer, a statement that even Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley called "idiotic".

If Trump was still just a reality show host and failed casino owner we could laugh it off as the ravings of a nitwit, but the man helps to set US energy policy. People across the globe laugh out loud and wonder if America has succumbed to some form of mass insanity. Perhaps they're right.

On Saturday while speaking at the Turning Point USA conference, Trump again attacked wind energy, this time claiming that the production of wind turbines involves more

carbon emissions than they save. Well, at least that is what he probably meant to say. As usual his argument was a linguistic nightmare, like listening to your six-year-old explain how the vase got broken in your living room.

Trump: “I never understood wind. I know windmills very much, I have studied it better than anybody. I know it is very expensive. They are made in China and Germany mostly, very few made here, almost none, but they are manufactured, tremendous — if you are into this — tremendous fumes and gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right?”
... “So the world is tiny compared to the universe. So tremendous, tremendous amount of fumes and everything. You talk about the carbon footprint, fumes are spewing into the air, right spewing, whether it is China or Germany, is going into the air.”

For the love of God, could someone please buy this man a book for Christmas.

First, researchers have found that wind farms, that have a 20 year lifespan, recoup the carbon footprint from their manufacture within 6 months. And then for the next 19 1/2 years they generate carbon-free energy. That's a pretty good deal.

Second, General Electric [GE], which is headquartered in Boston, is one of the world's largest wind turbine manufacturers and many of the other companies involved in the industry manufacture parts for their turbines in America. But, more importantly, if the United States prioritized wind energy, as many nations in Europe have, we would see turbine manufacturers spring up across the country. And, as a bonus Mr. President, the workers in those facilities wouldn't be contracting black lung disease.

When will this nightmare be over?
