Another Major Study Shows No Link Between MMR Vaccine And Autism

There is some wonderful news today regarding vaccines that should help doctors convince parents to have their children vaccinated.

A large study conducted in Denmark showed there is no link between the MMR vaccination for measles, mumps and rubella and autism.

NPR: "Among the 657,461 children included in the analysis, 6,517 were diagnosed with autism over the next decade. But there was no overall increased risk for the developmental disorder among those who received the MMR vaccine when compared with those who had not gotten the vaccine, the researchers found."

"The study's first author, epidemiologist Anders Hviid of the Staten Serum Institute in Copenhagen, added in an email: "MMR does not cause autism."

CBS, New York: “The new study, if we needed it, puts to rest once again that there is no association between measles vacccine and autism,” said Dr. William Schaffner of Vanderbilt University Medical Center."

This study, like the many before it, won't completely quell the anti-vax movement in America, but it does give physicians one more piece of evidence to refute the autism myth.
