It's Starting to Look Like it Was a Blue Wave as Sinema Takes the Lead in AZ and Democrats Conti

As their majority in the House continues to increase, Democrats have been further buoyed by the vote count in Arizona and Florida for US Senator. Democrat Kyrsten Sinema has taken the lead in Arizona, and Governor Rick Scott and Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson are now separated by just .18 percent of the votes cast in Florida. If that margin holds, the race would be resolved by a manual recount.

The Arizona race is still close, but Democrats have a chance there to flip another Republican Senate seat in what has historically been a very conservative state.

CBS: "Democrat Kyrsten Sinema took a slim lead over Republican Martha McSally in the Arizona Senate race by a margin of 2,000 votes. This is the first time that Sinema has pulled ahead of McSally in the days since the election."

Sinema's lead has grown to 9000 votes as the count continued today, but there are still more than 300,000 AZ ballots to be counted.

CBS: "An additional 120,000 outstanding ballots were made available from Maricopa County Thursday. The county encompasses Phoenix and some of the state's liberal enclaves. There are an [estimated] 345,000 ballots that needed to be counted per a knowledgeable source with the Arizona Secretary of State's office."

In Florida, as the count continues, Gov. Rick Scott and President Trump have alleged, without evidence, that Democrats engaged in voter fraud but authorities there now say that no tangible allegations have been made.

Politico: "After the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Thursday night it would investigate two local election officials at the request of Gov. Rick Scott, the agency now says that because no voter fraud allegations were made, it is no longer pursuing an investigation."

The Governor's race in Florida between Democratic Andrew Gillum and Republican Ron DeSantis is also heading to a recount as Gillum has closed to within half a percentage point of DeSantis.

In the House of Representatives, Democrats continue to pad their lead and may end up flipping a total of 36 to 38 seats when the dust settles. That would be at the high end of most pre-election estimates and more House seats than they have picked up in any midterm election since 1974.
