Answering That Age Old Question; Why Do Mosquitoes Bite Some People More Than Others?

My wife gets eaten alive by mosquitoes this time of year and I rarely suffer a single bite. But why? I tell her that's because she's "sweet," and she is, but we are both pretty sure there is a better answer. And scientists do have some theories to answer this age-old question.

Smithsonian: "As a whole, underlying genetic factors are estimated to account for 85 percent of the variability between people in their attractiveness to mosquitoes—regardless of whether it’s expressed through blood type, metabolism, or other factors."

Studies have demonstrated that drinking beer, clothing color, pregnancy, skin bacteria, exercise, and CO2 levels can all play a role in whether mosquitoes find you attractive. Read how they impact mosquito bites here.
