Recent Polling Data; Donald Trump is Driving a Huge Gender Gap, Dems Lead in Generic Ballot

Recent polling show a growing gender gap in the electorate. The most recent George Mason/Washington Post poll shows Trump's support at 43%, but only 32% of women approve of his performance compared to 54% of men. This 22% gender gap is one of the largest ever recorded for a President.

The same type of gender gap is also showing up on the generic Congressional ballot question.

Quinnipiac University's National Poll found "that If the election for the U.S. House of Representatives were held today, 50 percent of American voters say they would vote for the Democratic candidate, [and] 41 percent say they would vote for the Republican candidate. But, broken down by gender, men go Republican 50 - 42 percent [and] women go Democratic 58 - 33 percent."

The George Mason/Washington Post poll also shows Democrats leading the generic Congressional ballot, 47-37. The 9 and 10 point Democratic generic ballot advantage in these two polls is a bit higher than in previous polling and about the difference Democrats are thought to need to recapture the House. But, its still very early in the election cycle.

Its also interesting to note from the Quinnipiac poll that voters support the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade 63-31 with almost no gender gap.
